Is A Picture Worth A Thousand Words Or Dollars?
By Jay Aydelotte
You don’t need an expensive digital camera, all of the point and click digital cameras available today will provide the quality of picture needed to show the prospective buyers your RV. Make sure the lens is clean and free of any finger prints or smudges. The best conditions for taking pictures of the outside is a cloudy or over cast day. If you have to take pictures on a bright, sunny day, make sure the sun is behind you when you take the pictures. That will require moving your RV so you can take pictures of all sides. It is important to take at least one picture of each side of your recreational vehicle. A prospective buyer will want to see and verify that all sides are free of damage and cosmetically pleasing to look at before they travel to see it. Be careful that you don’t have shadows that leave questions, and again I will point out that an over cast day will help eliminate most shadows.
Take lots of pictures of the inside, make sure you have a picture showing everything and from as many angles as you can. If it is sunny outside, make sure the blinds are closed to prevent your camera from seeing the bright light and causing the picture to be dark. It is really important that the pictures be bright and well lit to help show the prospective buyers as much detail as possible. Turn on all the lights inside the RV, and make sure your camera’s flash is on to help fill the picture with light. Be careful if there are mirrors that you don’t see the flash in the mirror, move to a different angle to prevent the reflection being visible in the picture. Make sure the bed is made, and everything is in it’s proper place and clean before you take pictures.
Put as many pictures as you can on your Internet classified RV ad. There are several sites that permit ten, twenty and some even more pictures, so take advantage of that and make sure you put as many as possible on each site that you decide to advertise on. Remember that the more exposure you get, the more improved your chances are of selling your RV quickly and for more money. There is no doubt that in this case a picture truly is worth a thousand words, and probably worth a thousand dollars also.
